Teacher Info
I started juggling sticks at age 14, in 1998/9. I started playing with fire in 2006, and started learning poi in 2010. It escalated from there. In 2011 I founded the AfrikaBurn Flow Arts Community, with the intention of spreading awareness of, and teaching Flow Arts. I founded Flow DNA, the first Flow Arts shop in Africa, in 2013. I have been teaching regular weekly classes in poi dancing since 2014.

Lesson Info
Poi is my first choice in props to teach. It shares common movements and patterns with almost all other forms of object manipulation. Every lesson (after Poi-Fu warmups) we will go over the fundamentals of 2-prop-2-arm movements – timing, direction, and planes. We will then continue the lesson by expanding on particular topics.
In your first lesson, you will be taught the 4 basic timing/direction modes, and we will work on 1 “trick” in each mode. More advanced spinners will be taught more technical concepts, like anti-spin/in-spin flower patterns, isolations, and plane-switching.
